सर्पिस् _sarpis

सर्पिस् n. [सृप्-इसि Uṇ.2.17] Clarified butter; (for the difference between घृत and सर्पिस् see आज्य); यद्यप्यस्मिन् सर्पिर्वोदकं वा सिञ्चति वर्त्मनी एव यच्छति Ch. Up.4. 15.1.

-Comp. आसुतिः an epithet of Agni.

-कुण्डिका a butter-jar.

-समुद्रः the sea of clarified butter, one of the seven seas.
